Metal laser sintering

Metal laser sintering is another revolutionary technique for fabricating objects of metallic material. Unlike traditional methods which use welding, chiseling, forming or casting to create objects from metallic materials, direct laser sintering works by utilizing a high-powered laser to melt metallic powder in very flat layers (layer after layer) until the final object shape has been formed. Because the entire process is accomplished with significant amounts of laser heat and tiny layers of melted metallic powders, this technology can produce extremely intricate designs while creating very strong and very lightweight finished objects.

How Metal Laser Sintering Revolutionizes Product Manufacturing

Another key advantage of metal laser sintering is speed. Metal selective laser melting produces finished parts much more quickly compared with traditional fabrication methods. A manufacturer of finished parts might take several weeks to have a completed part using traditional methods, however, they may be able to manufacture a finished part using metal laser sintering technology in only days. Because of the increased speeds of producing finished parts with metal laser sintering, the manufacturing industry is able to respond to their customers faster than ever by utilizing metal laser sintering to manufacture special parts needed for new models of vehicles; thus, keeping manufacturing on schedule. As such, Xnova has seen firsthand the positive effects on its business partners because they have improved their manufacturing timelines as a result of utilizing metal laser sintering technology.

What Are the Advantages of Metal Laser Sintering for Wholesale Buyers?

Saving costs is yet another benefit of metal laser sintering. Even though the price of buying a metal laser sintering machine may be high, in the long run, significant cost savings occur due to minimal wastage and fast manufacturing. Xnova recognizes that wholesale buyers want to minimize their costs while receiving quality products, and this is what metal laser sintering allows achieving.

Common Usage Issues in Metal Laser Sintering and How to Avoid Them

There is also a great benefit in using metal laser sintering technologies for creating metal items, but there are also challenges that may occur during this process. The most obvious problem related to metal laser sintering is the defectiveness of the manufactured products, as they will not be perfect. This problem may occur because of incorrect setting of the laser used. Thus, one should ensure the proper focus of the laser and correct parameters to be used with particular metal. Another challenge related to direct metal laser melting is the accumulation of excessive powder, resulting in weak points of the metal part. In addition, if the temperature is either too low or too high, the result will be negative. At Xnova, we always notify our clients about following certain requirements and guidelines.

Where to Source the Best Metal Laser Sintering Materials

Choosing suitable materials to be used in laser sintering is key to achieving success in the process. For one to make robust and durable parts, the highest quality metal powders must be considered. What are some of the sources of materials? Some organizations offer the best metal powders specifically designed for laser sintering processes. Xnova offers various metal powders to be utilized in metal laser sintering. The materials offered by Xnova have been tested and found fit for application. The choice of materials to be used should be based on the size of the powder particles. Metal powders with consistent sizes and shapes are recommended. Using such materials ensures even melting of the material using the laser beam. Certification of materials is another factor to consider when selecting the powder particles. Certification indicates that the material has been tested and proved fit for use.
