Metal laser sintering is another revolutionary technique for fabricating objects of metallic material. Unlike traditional methods which use welding, chiseling, forming or casting to create objects from metallic materials, direct laser sintering works by utilizing a high-powered laser to melt metallic powder in very flat layers (layer after layer) until the final object shape has been formed. Because the entire process is accomplished with significant amounts of laser heat and tiny layers of melted metallic powders, this technology can produce extremely intricate designs while creating very strong and very lightweight finished objects.
